BACKGROUND: I have been working out with Sonki for over four years, since 2003! Sonki’s program has encouraged me to be disciplined and engaged in my health, fitness and physical and mental well being. I have achieved goals that I never knew possible, such as running a 5:29 mile, setting personal records for push-ups and sit-ups, and always striving to be better. Sonki has helped me through a great personal journey.
How long have you been working out? Although I’ve been working out for many years, Sonki Fitness Boot Camp introduced efficiency, time management and organization to the process. Sonki encourages me to apply similar project management techniques as I developed as a Management Consultant to my workout routine. This has helped me effectively develop, execute and achieve my fitness goals.
What is your current exercise routine? I work out with Sonki four times a week at the 6:30 morning class and Saturday’s. I always look forward to working out more, so I’m really excited about working out 5+ days with the Xtreme Training (XT)! I also mix in some Bikram Yoga (Hot!) and some weight training at the gym. On off days, I also love to run on the beach and challenge myself on the Santa Monica Stairs!
What is your motivation to stay in shape? I find that staying fit and active is a key essence of my being! Working out and eating right is one thing that I am blessed to have under control. I find that starting my days off at 6:30 in the morning and doing exercises on the beach provides me energy and inspiration, which help carry me through the day. Being in Santa Monica surrounded by the blue ocean, fresh air and white sandy beaches is a privilege, which I’m able to appreciate through Sonki’s Boot Camp!
What is your greatest challenge to staying in shape? Before I started Sonki Fitness Boot Camp, I used to say “I’m not a morning person.” Sonki helped me realize that this isn’t the case (most of the time), and starting my day early with a workout really is “Mind over Matter.” I now realize how positive and refreshing it is to get up every morning to watch the city wake up as I’m getting in the best shape of my life!
What is your key to success? The key to my success is goal setting. I’m most successful by writing my goals down, committing to them by revisiting them and sharing them with others, executing them, learning from hiccups along the way and celebrating successes! In order to do this most effectively, I have many wonderful mentors and a strong group of friends and family who I refer to collectively as my “personal board of directors,” who I share my goals, dreams, successes and challenges.
How long have you been doing Sonki Fitness Boot Camp? I’ve been working out with Sonki since 2003!
What do you like about Sonki Fitness Boot Camp and how has it affected your life? I love the collaborative team and community spirit that Sonki Fitness Boot Camp inspires. Boot Camp is much more than just working out. My great, dedicated Sonki teammates inspire me to show up early each morning!
What advice would you give to others about fitness? “If not you, Who? If not now, When?” — Rabbi Hillel
