BACKGROUND: I started Sonki Fitness Boot Camp back in 2004 after being recommended by a co-worker. For those of you who don’t know me, I’m the guy who makes all the grunting noise in class. I wish I can say my sound effects are due to my longing to be like Rambo, but they’re actually just a self-reminder to push harder during workouts and give 100% effort.
When I first started Sonki Fitness, my fitness assessment numbers were 15 push-ups, 20 sit-ups and a 9:30 mile. I can proudly say that I can now perform 60 push-ups, 78 sit-ups and a 6:30 mile. That means I’ve increased my strength, endurance, and speed by 400%, 290%, and 3 minutes! And I’ve lost inches off my waist. True to the adage, “there’s no shortcut to success,” none of my success has come easy as I’ve had to put in a lot of hard work to get to where I am. But I feel that I still have a lot of room for improvement to achieve rock hard abs that every guy aspires to have and learn to exercise outside of Sonki Fitness Boot Camp. I find it extremely hard to exercise on my own, especially when I am traveling.
What is your current exercise routine? Sonki Fitness Boot Camp at least three days a week.
What is your motivation to stay in shape? My main motivation to stay in shape is to keep my health in check. It’s always frightening to go for a medical check-up and find out my measurements aren’t where they should be. Another motivation I have is to get rock hard abs because in addition to looking sexy, a slim waistline has been linked to
fewer health related problems like diabetes.
What is your greatest challenge to staying in shape? My greatest challenge is my love for food! The challenge gets even greater when I visit Taiwan (which I do frequently) because the food there is so delicious! And I am constantly invited to family gatherings where I can’t say no to food in these social situations.
What is your key to success? Honestly, my key to success is doing Sonki Fitness. Without it, I have a hard time motivating myself to exercise.
What do you like about Sonki Fitness Boot Camp and how has it affected your life? Sonki Fitness has changed my life and shown me the way to stay motivated to exercise. And that has made me feel better about myself while giving me a renewed sense of confidence. Moreover, Sonki Fitness makes working out fun! Sonki and my fellow Sonki Fitness Warriors always make me feel encouraged and motivated.
What advice would you give to others about fitness? Just show up to class and put forth your 100% effort. It’s as simple as that!
