BACKGROUND: For the past 10 years, I’ve gone through a bad habit of losing weight and gaining weight. I started Sonki Fitness back in 2009, lost a few pounds, got stronger then fell off the wagon again. I gave birth to my beautiful twins in 2017, but the aftermath was muscle loss and really bad sciatic pain. I started working out 3 months later, walking uphill pushing the double stroller and then later progressing to running 6+ miles with my double stroller. This is the first year where I set a goal to consistently workout, and I’m proud to say I’ve stuck with it. I was the winner of the Sonki Fitness Quarantine Challenge and started up again with Sonki Fitness in June. While I haven’t lost much weight, I have lost inches and feel much stronger and faster. Sonki Fitness keeps me motivated and accountable, and I can’t wait to see where my fitness journey leads me.
What is your current exercise routine? Sonki Fitness Bootcamp MWF. On other days, I try to hike, run, and do dumbbell home exercise. I try to exercise at least 5 times each week.
What is your motivation to stay in shape? I take occasional progress photos, and it’s so motivating to see the changes in my body. I want to continue to get stronger, look leaner and have the energy to keep up with my 3-year old twins.
What is your greatest challenge to staying in shape? I’m such a foodie, so definitely watching my calories and eating healthier foods is a challenge when all I want to do is have a burger and fries.
What is your key to success? Making a plan and following through with it. I keep myself accountable by marking all my workouts on a calendar.
What do you like about Sonki Fitness Boot Camp and how has it affected your life? When I started Sonki Fitness back in 2009, I quickly lost weight and got toned. I love that Sonki teaches the classes and how competitive and fun he makes them. Prior to COVID, I remember doing several exercises using towels with our partners as well as leg throw downs. Other days Sonki does circuit training, but the best part are those beach workouts on the sand. You can’t beat that! Sonki’s workouts are versatile and fun. I never know what to expect so I never get bored and am constantly challenging my body to go harder.
What advice would you give to others about fitness? Set small goals, eat right, stay consistent and take progress pics. Our weight fluctuates so much, especially for women, so don’t pay too much attention to the scale, but instead focus on how you feel in your clothes, how you feel energy wise, and the subtle changes you see in your progress pics. Every little bit helps.
Any other comments? Don’t think about it, just sign up. Who better than Sonki to get you back into shape?
