Monica Camacho Pedersen (Dec 2022)
PROFESSION: I work as a stylist, but now hoping to turn into a full time blogger.
HOMETOWN: Fresno, CA
COLLEGE: I studied at U.C.L.A. (fight, fight, fight!) which is why I moved here at 18.
FAVORITE FOOD: Steak! I love steak!
FAVORITE PLACE VISITED: Egypt exceeded my expectations! The history of this place is beyond! Peru and hiking Machu Picchu was another mind blowing experience!
PLACE YOU WANT TO VISIT: Portugal and most of Africa are just a few places I would love to explore!
FAVORITE MOVIE: Y Mama Tu Tabien brought taboo topics to cinema. Also it made me so proud that a Mexican director, Alfonso Cuaron, was finally being recognized in the community of filmmakers.
FAVORITE SINGER: I love Billie Holiday, Maggie Rogers, Elizabeth Fraser, Tracy Thorn, Bjorke, Thom Yorke. So so many singers I love!
HOBBIES: I am grateful that I can work out near the ocean which is one of my hobbies. Discovering new music and reading Isabel Allende books rank pretty high on my list too.
BACKGROUND: Since I was a kid, I was always the one waking up at 4am, full of energy and had no idea how to channel it (my poor mom!). She would send me outside to play, a lot. Finally I discovered long distance running…at the beach! I knew this was the place I wanted to call home. Then I made the beach my gym.
What is your current exercise routine? Sonki Fitness Boot Camp 3x per week. Aside from boot camp, my workout routine is running on the sand and lifting weights at home.
What is your motivation to stay in shape? Whatever I tackle in life, I want to put my best foot forward. Staying in shape is an important part of being my best and thinking clearly.
What is your greatest challenge to staying in shape? My husband is a great cook, so over eating or eating past the point of being full is my biggest challenge to staying in shape.
What is your key to success? The key to my success is knowing every day presents another opportunity to try and be a little bit better than the day before in some way, shape or form.
What do you like about Sonki Fitness Boot Camp and how has it affected your life? Sonki Fitness has made me more fit! Before this class, I was never the type to workout with a group. I usually prefer to do it alone. But I love that everyone comes to class, works hard and shares stories about family, food, and travel!
What advice would you give to others about fitness? Fitness is as important as breathing – the more fit you are, the better you can handle challenges in life. As we all know, there are plenty of challenges we all face.
Any other comments? I am so humbled to be recognized by Sonki! Being influenced by Sonki, taking the road less traveled, has encouraged me to continue working on my blog.
