BACKGROUND:  When I first started Sonki Fitness Boot Camp in 2014, I was 22-years old, out of shape, unmotivated, and depressed. As a psychology student, I didn’t realize the profound impact fitness could have on our emotional well-being. My one-track mindset led me to neglect an integral part of our lives: our bodies. Fast forward to 2024, at 32 years of age, I’m in the best shape of my life, and I owe it all to Sonki and the Sonki Fitness community for inspiring me to improve both mentally and physically. Gradually, I began to understand the crucial role fitness plays in overall well-being. I realized that when I felt good in my body, I also felt good internally. The external is such an easy, simple, and accessible thing we can all attain—all it takes is discipline and drive. Through Sonki’s continuous encouragement and motivation, I feel stronger and more resilient than ever. Even going on the Sonki Fitness Vacations played such a foundational role in shaping my mind-body goals over the years.  I learned, both tangibly and through evidence in my own life, that the two are deeply intertwined. Over the years, I’ve learned essential components of living a healthy life, thanks to Sonki’s guidance and unwavering support. Having a solid fitness routine has helped me navigate some of my darkest periods, transforming my life for the better. I couldn’t be more grateful for Sonki Fitness and the years of guidance I have received.

What is your current exercise routine?

Monday, Wednesday, Friday – Cardio (running at least 3 miles and light workouts)

Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday – Weight training and rigorous workouts

What is your motivation to stay in shape?  My biggest motivator is feeling good internally and externally. I love the way I feel after a workout. I love the way my body and mind feel. I love knowing that I am taking care of and providing the necessary nourishment to the home (my body) that houses my soul in this human experience. That is enough motivation for me to keep going. 

What is your greatest challenge to staying in shape?  Being disciplined enough with yourself to remain consistent.

What is your key to success?  Everything changed for me once I changed my perspective and I started viewing fitness as a life-changing, enjoyable and spiritual experience. Finding gratitude in having the ability to be able to get up every day and move my body. 

What do you like about Sonki Fitness Boot Camp and how has it affected your life?  Sonki Fitness has changed my life in many aspects not just physically but also taught me it is possible to be a part of a safe non-judgmental and motivating community where we can all gather, have fun yet feel good internally and externally. It has taught me about showing up for myself, consistency, and persistence. It taught me that with enough persistence all my goals in every sphere are possible. I just needed to make the effort to show up. 

What advice would you give to others about fitness?  Honestly, I am eternally grateful to Sonki for changing my life and building such a strong, caring and beautiful community. Just being around Sonki, his energy and the way he can radiate positivity is contagious. His gentle yet firm way of teaching leaves an imprint in your psyche. I feel blessed and lucky I was able to experience and be around the Sonki Fitness community. It feels like an oasis of possibilities that you may not understand in the moment, but the puzzle pieces always align in the best possible ways at the best possible time. I learned valuable lifelong lessons at Sonki Fitness Vacations, during my 1-on-1 sessions and at Boot Camp with Sonki. I am forever grateful and blessed for this community and the program Sonki built with love, discipline, care, and his “expecting excellence” attitude.

This is a mind-body experience more than anything else that will teach you valuable lessons in every area of life.
