BACKGROUND:  I’ve lost over 40 pounds this year since I started really focusing on my health. I have become a much faster runner, and have found that my endurance is significantly higher. I have also found that I am capable of sprinting at a speed that I have not been able to achieve since I was playing football in college. I am sleeping better at night and am able to play with my kids for hours at a time without getting tired. I am truly excited about what the future holds!

What is your current routine?  Sonki Fitness on Monday, Wednesday and Friday’s. On Tuesday and Thursday’s, I do core work (Ab Ripper X), yoga, or hill sprints. I also stretch almost every night for 30 minutes.

What is your motivation to stay in shape?  My family.

What is your greatest challenge to staying in shape?  I have several joint and back issues which cause pain, but I work through those the best that I can.

What is your key to success?  I have created a vision board and accountability chart which I have hanging on my mirror. It has inspiring pictures of health, exercise and healthy food. It also has pictures of me from when I was younger and in better shape. It helps keep me visualizing the benefits of staying healthy. It also has an accountability calendar which has boxes on each day of the week that I need to check off for the following categories: (1) exercise, (2) drinking 150 oz of water, (3) meditating twice a day, and (4) stretching at night. It also has other suggestions like taking daily vitamins, stopping eating after 7pm, turning off all electronics (except for TV) after 6pm, limiting coffee intake, etc.

What do you like about Sonki Fitness and how has it affected your life?  I like that I find the classes to be very challenging, but also achievable. There is a friendly competition between the class members which keeps pushing me.

What advice would you give to others about fitness?  I think fitness is a holistic endeavor. Simply eating well is not enough. And exercise alone is not enough. I think you will find better results if you also focus on drinking enough water, meditating, disconnecting from electronics, and taking time to stretch.
