BACKGROUND:  I have been an athlete my entire life and had never had an injury until 2014. I broke my leg playing volleyball, and then 11 months later broke my wrist. Injuries are difficult both physically and mentally to get through, which I did not understand. I then buried myself in work and was traveling all the time. The pandemic forced me to settle down and made me realize how out of shape I was (and not getting younger). So I needed something to keep me mentally strong while in lockdown. I started working out on my kitchen floor for about 6 months and lost five pounds and began getting stronger again. I thrive in a team environment and was starting to get bored working out alone and being stuck inside. And that is when I decided to join Sonki Fitness. I lost 15 pounds in my first four months of Sonki Fitness training and continue to get stronger with each session. I am back playing volleyball and feel great!

What is your current exercise routine?  Sonki Fitness 3x per week, walking 3+ miles 2x per week, and playing volleyball.

What is your motivation to stay in shape?  Staying active and in shape helps me stay grounded and gives me energy.

What is your greatest challenge to staying in shape?  It is difficult for me to stay in a workout routine when I travel for work.

What is your key to success?  Getting in my exercise early in the morning gives me energy to conquer the day.

What do you like about Sonki Fitness Boot Camp and how has it affected your life?  Sonki has created a fitness culture that is inclusive, you work at your own pace to achieve your goals through motivation, not pressure. Major perk is watching the sunrise on the beach. One of my favorite aspects of Sonki Fitness is that it attracts like-minded people, which brings new friendships.

What advice would you give to others about fitness?  It is easy to fall off the fitness wagon when life gets busy, but that is the most critical time to continue your routine. Staying fit and active keeps you feeling young by reducing stress and giving you energy. So make it a priority!

Any other comments?  The only person you can push is yourself!
